Get NanoMouse for iPhone and iPad, or set up an optional input method for your Mac.

iPhone and iPad

Install NanoMouse from the App Store, then add the NanoMouse keyboard in Settings.

Mac input method

The Mac companion works with Squirrel, a Rime input method installed separately. Download the official installer below to use Chinese input across your Mac.

Squirrel 1.1.2 · macOS 13 or later · Apple silicon and Intel · 25.5 MB

  1. Open Squirrel-1.1.2.pkg and follow the installer. Enter your Mac administrator password if requested.
  2. Log out and log back in after installation if prompted. Save your work before logging out.
  3. Open System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Edit. If Squirrel is not listed, use + to add it from the Chinese input sources.
  4. Select Squirrel from the input menu in the menu bar and start typing. If you already use the NanoMouse Mac app, you can manage its Rime settings there.
  • Already have Squirrel? You can continue using your installation. Back up your Rime configuration before changing it.
  • To stop using it, switch to another input source or remove Squirrel from Input Sources in System Settings.

NanoMouse for Mac

The Mac app manages Byte Paste, Canvas, Markdown, causal diagrams, and files, and synchronizes them with iOS. Its download link will be added when the public Mac release is available.

The input method is optional. Byte Paste and the other Mac app features work independently.
